Alumni Relations
The Alumni Relations Unit is the key contact for the Faculty’s alumni and is responsible for the strategy and management of alumni activity. AR develops programming for alumni in the lower Mainland, as well as various regional constituencies with significant alumni representation. AR also provides support to alumni wishing to connect with UBC as well as to Schools and Departments wishing to increase alumni contact. If your Department wants to increase its alumni activity, or if alumni or students contact you about alumni relations, please let us know. alumni@apsc.ubc.ca
Award Nominations
Assistance is available to help you prepare nomination packages for faculty and staff for various UBC, provincial, national and international honours and distinctions. The
Applied Science's communications writer can provide assistance by editing nomination letters,
coordinating letters of support, compiling supporting documentation and submitting
the final nomination package. Please provide advanced notice two months
ahead of nomination deadlines to ensure assistance is available. Read more about award assistance.
Communications
The Communications Office provides a variety of services to help promote
your department, school, program, centre, research and/or event. A few
of these services include creating a communications plan for your unit, publication design, copywriting, editing, photography and
media relations. Please make contact as early as possible to optimize
publicity opportunities.

Development
The Development team is responsible for raising funds for the Faculty. We work closely with the Deans, Heads, and Directors to determine priority projects and match potential donors with Faculty initiatives. If you know of someone who wants to make a contribution to the Faculty, have received a contribution of cash or equipment, or have a priority project that needs funding, please let us know! development.secretary@apsc.ubc.ca
Grant Writing
The Applied Science research grant facilitators can help with editing and preparing grant applications, letters of intent
and program proposals if you provide advance notice of your
intention to submit. The group has helped
applicants successfully receive funding from the BC Knowledge Development
Fund, the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Canada Research
Chairs Program and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council
of Canada to name a few.

Instructional Support
The Applied Science Centre for Instructional Support can help you improve your teaching and student learning by the effective use of educational technologies. A host of resources are available, including
