Style Guide
of Applied Science
Welcome to the Applied Science style guide. This resource is intended to assist faculty members and staff in producing non-academic publications. It is meant to help ensure consistency in grammar, language, punctuation and spelling--style--among Applied Science publications.
Some of the specifics you see on this page may be contrary to what you have been taught. This doesn't mean that one style is right and one is wrong. Rather, there are many different styles, and we aim to employ a style that is clear, concise, modern and commonly used in popular press; our primary goal is to have our messages clearly understood among public audiences and secondarily to be publicized externally.
For these reasons, Applied Science uses the specific style elements (below). For other editing questions, we refer to the Canadian Press Stylebook as a primary resource.
An updated Applied Science Style Guide will be reposted once completed.
